Third "Third" ?!!?!!

Three...Tatlo...Tres...Tre....Trois....ثلاثة....три....tři.....drie....kolme.....drei.....τρεις
.....तीन.....trzy.....trei......And some other foreign translations of the word "three".

Feeling ko tuloy, pagkatapos ng nangyari last Wednesday, number 3 na ang lucky number ko.

The number 3 have really played important roles in many aspects of life especially in religions, in philosophies, and in mythologies. Mythological characters usually come in triples (eg. Hindu Major Deities: Brahma // Vishnu // Shiva ; Greek Fates: Clotho // Lachesis // Atropos; Greek Major Gods: Zeus (sky) // Poseidon (sea) // Hades (underworld) ). Religious precepts and doctrines are usually made in three's as well(eg. Christian "Trinity"(Father, Son, and Holy Spirit); Buddhist Triple Gem).

The number 3 is both considered lucky and unlucky. The Chinese believe it to be lucky for it sounds like the Chinese word "alive". Counts before synchronous acts are usually done in three. However, some cultures consider 3 as unlucky. One famous superstition in the Philippines is that pictures should never be taken on three persons. They say that the person in the center of the picture will die while the other two will experience a cursed life.

Well here's a thought really circling my mind. This Wednesday of the Humanities Week, September 3, 2008, my class Strontium won 3rd place in the "Di-Kumbensyonal na Musika" competition with our upbeat song Apoy. Last year Humanities Week, my class Jasmin won as well 3rd place in the "Katutubong Sayaw" contest with our thrilling Sayaw sa Bangko. Two years ago, my class Topaz won as well 3rd place in the "Kilos-Awit" competition with the song Sandalan. See, this year was my 3rd "3rd place" for the Filipino class competitions during the Humanities Week.

I really hope that next year, there would be something new - something like 2nd or even 1st place for the "Sayaw Interpretasyon" competition for the 4th years. :D :D O kaya naman kahit 3rd, oks lng - basta top 3. :D :D
