Ateneo SOSE Xperience - Part 1

Wah! 2 day lecture/training/team-building activity siya sa Ateneo! Ginanap siya last September 20 and this Saturday, September 27. Maraming schools ang kasama. List includes Pisay, Masci, Colegio de San Agustin, Xavier, Assumption, Uno HS, Claret, .... (Sori, di ko na maalala ung iba!!). Oh well, it's the experience that counts. By the way, kasama ko sina Rachelle at Lance.

Day 1

Ok. Tapos nagkaroon ng picture taking after nun. Periodic table na background. Ahehe...So 9 am na. Nahati kami sa dalawang blocks - block SO and block SE (my block). Mag-isa lang akong Pisay kaya medyo nabore ako dahil wala akong makausap kung boring iyung teacher o iyung subject.

Act 1. Environmental Science

So ito ung first lecture by Dr.Perez.

Act 2. Biology

To be continued......

Ninth Post

Waaahhhh......... Adik magmura - in character sa elocution! Tapos si MSK! 'Eto ang pinakamahaba so far - 6 minutes actually. Sayang nakalimutan niya 'yung peace. Akala ko tuloy mag-eelocution ako that day kasi nabawasan na 'yung time. Tapos si Niccolo! Adik! Adik!

2. "That's life".

Ginawa ko itong blog entry for three reasons.

Tapos, for some reason, medyo naaadik ako ngayon sa mga kabrutalan. Tapos last Saturday, I watched something na cute brutality: Happy Tree Friends. First time kong manood nun at nung napanood ko iyon, di ko na siya maalis sa isip ko.

Haaaaay............

Five Things to Know About Me - Set A

1) I really, really like Biology and Chemistry, and how much I like them equals how much I hate Physics. Hehe.. peace mga Prob-Based P6 people.

2) I really, really like Detective Conan (manga and anime).

3) I usually do not play computer games and all those other recreational stuff.

4) My favorite ice cream flavor is strawberry.

5) I also feel sad unlike what everyone says. Sabi nung iba, lagi daw akong masaya. Masayahing tao raw ako - walang emo moments ba. Kala lang nila iyon. Siguro, mga 15 minutes for three days in a week, nakakaramdam rin naman ako ng kalungkutan. Yung tipong parang may kulang. Hindi naman talaga siya emo times. Moments of deep thinking.

Cause for a Talent, Talent for a Cause

Hehehehehe.........

Catchy statement, diba?! It just goes like this:

Very clear, right?! I hope so!

The talent show yesterday, September 5, 2008, in the PSHS Multipurpose Gymnasium, was realy fun watching. It started off with a short introduction by Ms. F. Anda who organized this whole thing. The intro actually talked about some of the recent successes of the fundraising programs they had in which proceeds went to the needy people. After the intro, the program finally began with the floor managers Mam Liz and Sir Alfer. Anggaling nilang mag-host!!!! All in all, there were 10 performances - 5 student, and 5 teacher. I admit that what really made me excited were the teacher performances. I was a bit bored with the student performances especially from the third until the last (hindi kasi Batch 2010 eh) >.<.

Here's a roll of the student performance and what I think about them.

The first performance was by then K-band whose presentation was fun with their stories and jokes. Second was by Isabel Serrano. She has a really good voice. Third was by the Mongrel Band of Batch 2011. Fourth was by the fourth year band whose name I can't remember. I admit I didn't watch them since I went down at that time to exchange my chits with money. The last was by Adriel Cheng of Batch 2012.

Whew! Now, here's a roll of the teacher performances!!! :D

First was the English unit. Their number was really, REALLY fun watching. KUMANTA KASI SI SIR ARGHS!!!!!! :D Second was the Physics Unit. I can't say anything. They've got talent: singing + dancing ++++++++++++ WHISTLING (c/o SIR LIM!!! :D). Third was by a group of staff, teachers, and other faculty members who danced to the beat of ABBA songs. Whew! Sumayaw so MAM DOCTO!!! Fourth was by Mam Dacs and Sir Guce. Anggaling nila!!!! Last, but DEFINITELY not the least was the Math Unit. They did have a very short presentation (two minutes I think) but that short time was definitely worth it. The two minutes was filled with excitement and live action as seen in the students and the teacher presentors as well. Loud music, and strong dances. What could we ask more? Woohoo!! Nag-ala-gymnastics pa si Mam De Joya!!! :D

And that was my very, very happy end for the Humanities Week. I really hope that next year's Humanities Week would be more fun and less boring.

Third "Third" ?!!?!!

Three...Tatlo...Tres...Tre....Trois.... три....tři.....drie....kolme.....drei.....τρεις
.....तीन.....trzy.....trei......And some other foreign translations of the word "three".

The number 3 have really played important roles in many aspects of life especially in religions, in philosophies, and in mythologies. Mythological characters usually come in triples (eg. Hindu Major Deities: Brahma // Vishnu // Shiva ; Greek Fates: Clotho // Lachesis // Atropos; Greek Major Gods: Zeus (sky) // Poseidon (sea) // Hades (underworld) ). Religious precepts and doctrines are usually made in three's as well(eg. Christian "Trinity"(Father, Son, and Holy Spirit); Buddhist Triple Gem).

The number 3 is both considered lucky and unlucky. The Chinese believe it to be lucky for it sounds like the Chinese word "alive". Counts before synchronous acts are usually done in three. However, some cultures consider 3 as unlucky. One famous superstition in the Philippines is that pictures should never be taken on three persons. They say that the person in the center of the picture will die while the other two will experience a cursed life.

Well here's a thought really circling my mind. This Wednesday of the Humanities Week, September 3, 2008, my class Strontium won 3rd place in the "Di-Kumbensyonal na Musika" competition with our upbeat song Apoy. Last year Humanities Week, my class Jasmin won as well 3rd place in the "Katutubong Sayaw" contest with our thrilling Sayaw sa Bangko. Two years ago, my class Topaz won as well 3rd place in the "Kilos-Awit" competition with the song Sandalan. See, this year was my 3rd "3rd place" for the Filipino class competitions during the Humanities Week.

I really hope that next year, there would be something new - something like 2nd or even 1st place for the "Sayaw Interpretasyon" competition for the 4th years. :D :D O kaya naman kahit 3rd, oks lng - basta top 3. :D :D

"Life is Beautiful!!"

Movie's set in Italy - probably, the World Wars period. Hati yung movie. First part talks about the everyday lives and the distinct culture and character of the Italians before the warring periods. Second part, on the other hand, talks about the hardships encountered by the Jewish in Italy during the warring periods. The main character is a Jewish dude living in Italy in order to work as a waiter in the fine resto his uncle is working under. Siya yung "comedian" ng story. Kaya siya nakakatawa dahil sa pagka-"autistic" niya in an enjoyable way - not so annoying. Later in the story, this Jewish dude married an Italian lady, Dora, who was supposed to be married off to some government guy. They had a son they named Joshua. Finally, when the war came, Joshua's family experienced a grave horror when they were all forced to move to the concentration camps led by the Germans. The Jewish were, at that time, extremely discriminated. The fun part here for me was that the Jewish father tries to make this horror story a game for his son, with a real tank as a first prize if they were the first ones to gain 1 000 points. The children in the camps were supposed to be cooked alive in large ovens to be manufactured as soaps or buttons. The Jewish dude also remained a husband to his wife even if they were separated in the camp (they were sorted out when they entered). Binalik niya yung mga happy memories thru that old-fashioned music player (di ko alam tawag dun) and overhead announcers. In the end, the Jewish father did his greaters act, that is, sacrifice his own life to save his son and his wife. Actually, iyon lang yung nakita kong dramatic segment nung movie :). By the way, this movie was narrated by Joshua, the son of the Jewish dude. Hope you can watch this movie!!!!!!!

A Boring Sunday and a Happy Monday

Ugghhhhhh................

I'm very very sick. Persistent coughs, DRY COUGHS. Temperatures hitting up to 39.50 degrees Celsius!!! (which is equal to 312.65 Kelvin). I stayed in bed for about 18 hours sleeping, daydreaming, or watching television. Fever was relapsing. When I stay in bed completely doing nothing, my body temp. stays at around 38 C but when I stand up or watch TV, my temp. rises to about 39 C!!! I had no choice but to bore myself >.< Hey! There was a bright side to this. For one, I've got a whole day doing nothing - no school work or any worries in my head. In fact, I decided not to go to school on the following Monday - more rest! :D Hehe! Good thing I already feel fine this Monday so I can watch TV or surf the net! :D :D Yehey!!! Most of all, more quantity time with my family. For the past few months, I really did have any time for my parents and my younger brother because I really concentrated myself in studies :P. This vacation gave me spend more time with my family. Speaking of coughs, I interested myself in the chemistry of cough syrups. The cough syrup I drank was Robitussin® DM. Here's what I found.....
  • There are two types of cough-relievers found in cough medicines: antitussives, or suppressants, and expectorants.
  • Antitussives are used in relieving dry coughs wherein the urge to cough out is suppressed.
  • Expectorants are used in relieving phlegm-producing coughs wherein mucus in the respiratory tract is loosened so that it can be easily coughed out.
  • Robitussin® DM contains two cough-relieving substances: dextromethorphan, and guaifenesin. Dextromethorphan is an antitussive while guaifenesin is an expectorant. These two substances work together not only to relieve cough but also to cure it at some point
